39 Korean Drama Review
Full Drama Review
Introduction
Full disclosure, I am a big fan of Son Ye Jin and have followed her works for many years.
I even trudged through “Something in the rain” a few years back and lost half my brain.
So you could say that I was eventually rewarded with “Crash landing on you” which really hit the spot on my Korean romcom button.
Before I digress too much, let us jump right into Son Ye Jin’s latest series on Netflix — 39.
A Writer’s Perspective
Being a writer, I tend to see things in the perspective of the writer.
Firstly, the age of a Korean actress is always a puzzle/trap for the Korean drama screenwriter.
If you cast a 39 year old in a 35 year old role, the actress may face some flak (so old act so young). So it is always important to match the character with the actual age of the actress.
Here we have a very popular 39 year old Korean actress. Her last role was that of a rambunctious Korean Chaebol heiress. So what are some elements of CLOY’s Yoon Se Ri that is worthy of preservation in 39’s Cha Mi Jo?
More importantly, What elements did the screenwriter choose to preserve?
