Still a Snake I am, but Beloved I have Now Become
A Short Christian Poem
The ruffling of leaves
Crisp, crackling, cool.
I am a snake
A legless being.
Ruffling ruffling through a world of dead leaves.
My neck cranks left and right,
Rhythmically, rhythmically, it reaches towards the Sun.
I am cold and hard.
I long for warmth.
But you my Sun, are utterly unreachable.
If you do not condescend yourself to enter my world, I shall never freely move.
But alas, a shock of grace.
A sudden burst of light.
Penetrating Sun, you infuse me with life.
Like a dumb apprentice, I knew not my ways.
I was an imposter and ate my shame.
But you my Sun, gently nudged me and showed me the way.
Imposter I was no longer because you wore a crown of thorns.
The greatest King became the greatest imposter.
A glorious snake I have now become.
Lifted on a tree, beaming life to all who look.
Still a snake I am.
but now much more.
For Beloved I have become.
