I’m on YouTube
Becoming an influencer?
Introduction
Yes. I am now on Youtube. I was undecided at first, but somehow, in a flurry of excitement, grandiosity and unbridled desire for fun, I launched my YouTube channel; And I do not regret it.
Here are 3 reasons why:
Reason One: Low Risk — One does not become a star in a day
There is really minimal risk of over-exposure as compared to others posts on social media (e.g. Facebook, Medium, Instagram).
In fact, most of my videos are only viewed 30+ times (probably by my friends and family). Knowing this gives me confidence to make mistakes.
To reiterate, instead of thinking, “I am becoming a YouTuber.” I thought, “I am now communicating with the world using a different format. I have already been creating written content for years, this is nothing new.”
Reason Two: I needed to market my counselling practice
Indeed, I am not very good at selling myself. Some would even describe me as self-deprecating.
However, there is a need for me to grow my counselling business (i.e. get more clients) and clients do want to ‘get a sense’ of who the therapist is…
