There was once a boy who was cheerful all the time.

His friends loved him and remarked, “We love to see your smiley face. It makes us feel happier.”

His teachers praised him, “You are so resilient; always smiling. We wish that all the children were more like you.”

His parents were proud of him, “You are a good boy who does not burden anyone with your sadness. That’s very good. Keep it up!”

Over time, he forgot how to be sad.

One day, he visited his teacher at the office.

He beamed, “How are you? I am so happy to see you.”

His teacher replied, “I am happy to see you too dear but I really cannot bring myself to smile now. You see, my beloved dog just passed away.”

He replied smiling, “Be of good cheer teacher. I am sure your dog is in heaven now. Smile, and you will feel better in no time.”

His teacher replied with tears in her eyes, “I want to smile like you but I can’t. I am so sorry.”

He left the office feeling less happy.

Next, he visited his friend at home. His friend had failed the recent examinations and did not want to go to school.
