The Freedom To Write

A perk of being a stay at home mum

I have been dabbling with the idea of seeking employment of late. One of my smaller but still salient concerns is — what will happen to this blog?

As you all may know, many of my articles discuss Catholic teachings — some of them may be perceived as subversive in nature — given the current multi-cultural climate.

As a housewife I have the freedom to write what I wish — within the confines of civility.

This freedom will undoubtedly be compromised once I enter the work force. I now represent more than myself; I represent the organisation which I will receive remuneration from.

Consider the case of James Gunn, the former director of Guardians of the Galaxy. He was fired after old tweets of his (i.e. regarding pedophilia and molestation) resurfaced and caused a stir on social media.

He was terminated because his former ideas were provocative and not in line with his organisation’s beliefs.

Of course the ‘subversiveness’ of my articles are no where on par with James Gunn’s tweets. Nonetheless, those who do not know me personally may perceive that I am overly conservative, narrow-minded and intolerant.

In my defence, that is not the case. My family members and close friends will tell you that I am a humorous and warm-hearted person.

Either way, let us rest and allow the tapestry of God to unfurl. When all the cards are on the table, we can decide the fate of this blog.
