The Heavy Crown

Once upon a time, there was a rich king who had two sons.

The elder prince was elegant and refined. He enjoyed the fine and exquisite things in life.

The younger prince was strange and awkward. He did not enjoy the fine things in life but preferred reading alone in his room.

One day, the rich king passed away.

The elder prince took over the throne. He was well liked and the transition went smoothly.

Seeing that his brother was well settled in, the younger prince moved to the nearby mountains to spend his days in seclusion.

Some years passed.

The elder brother fell gravely ill. Unable to conceive a child, he had no heir to his throne.

He ordered his men to climb up the mountain and bring his brother back to the palace.

Soon, the younger brother arrived back. He rushed to his brother’s bed, “Brother, how have you been?”

Slowly, the king sat up on his bed. With a heavy sigh he said, “It has been such a torment, carrying the weight of this crown. Oh how I envy your life of freedom!”

The younger brother was surprised. He replied, “I am so sorry brother. I always thought that you would enjoy wearing…
