The Lady with the Little Pink Hat
A Short Children’s Story
There was once a tiny little girl who walked with a limp. Her father loved her very much.
When she was seven years old, a group of older boys slapped her on the face and took her lunch money.
She returned home bruised and sad.
To cheer her up, her father bought her a pink hat.
She grew very fond of the pink hat and wore it everywhere she went.
Sixty years passed.
The little girl has become an old lady. She was still enamoured with the hat and wore it daily.
One day, she went to the market.
She approached the fishmonger and complained, “My maid is being lazy again, always on the phone. I wonder why I have such bad luck with maids.”
The fishmonger looked at her affectionately and said, “Pink hat, you always have such bad luck. Now, here’s a fresh fish to cheer you up.” He laughed.
She sulked and went to the vegetable store lady and lamented, “The fishmonger is being mean today. He said that I have bad luck always.”
The vegetable store lady frowned and said, “Pink hat, You mustn’t take that to heart, Peter has been having a tough time at home.”
