There was once an Artist who led a Saintly life.

At the end of his life, the Angel of death visited him, “You were a talented Artist and you led a good life. As a reward, God has granted you special permission to visit the Purgatory Art Gallery before going to heaven.”

The Angel lifted the soul onto a black cloud.

Before long, they arrived at the foot of a magnificent building.

As they stepped in, the Angel said, “At the end of a person’s life, he is given one canvas and asked to paint the one thing that he valued the most on earth. The finished artworks are displayed in this Gallery.”

The hall of beauty

They entered a hall filled with portraits of the most beautiful women.

The soul remarked, “These must be the women that men coveted for when they were alive.”

The Angel replied, “Yes and no. This half belongs to the men, whom like you said lusted after beautiful women. The other half belongs to the women who dedicated their lives to ‘perfecting’ their external beauty through make up, surgery and clothing.”

“Ah, such sorry lives they led.” The soul thought.
