What is God’s Love?
A Disposition of Loving Kindness and Humility
A Walk Down Memory Lane
In my earliest years, I was put under the care of Aunt. She was and is a phenomenal caregiver — Very nurturing and immensely protective. Though we had our share of accidents, we never felt unloved; not for a moment. Her love was that of true loving kindness.
She would always look at us with the kindest eyes anyone could have. She was amused by everything we did. She giggled at the most grotesque acts (e.g. picking of our noses).
She took care of me till I six years old and it was in these formative years that I got my greatest inspirations for parenting. I want to be a mother to my children just like my aunt was to me.
Loving Kindness
A couple of weeks back, I chanced upon an article by meditation guru Jon Kabat-Zinn. It was a piece dealing with loving-kindness meditation.
There was a portion of the meditation that required the practitioner to recall a relationship that was based on pure unconditional love (You may the recipient or giver of that love).
I realised in that moment that I was very blessed. I could instantly recall memories as a recipient of love (from my Aunt) and a giver of that love (to my son).
