Introduction
I have many sins, most of which are too embarrassing to mention here. Perhaps, I will share them in detail another day.
My saving grace is that I am somewhat aware of these sins and am willing to receive the sacrament of reconciliation frequently.
My confessor recently commented, “Denise, you are here quite often.”
I smiled and brushed that comment away. Inside I thought, “That’s because I am such a big sinner. And also, my profession as a counsellor requires me to be clear headed and humble. If I cannot face my sins and ask God for his graces and charisms. I would not be a good counsellor, would I?”
I chose not to reply because I wanted to hide my spiritual pride and I wanted the Priest to believe that I am an irrevocable, disgusting sinner, and to treat me accordingly, as a penance.
